A self contained flash application can be assembled on the NTB. The flash application allows us to develop High Quality animated graphics with transitions between screens that cannot be achieved with standard HTML.
The Hilton hotel requested that the touch screen design be easy to
edited by different staff members, the manager of each restaurant, for
example, having the ability to type their special of the day or upload
photos of their dishes.
For this reason, the design made extensive use of the ad hoc features of the NTB. This allowed easy content management by the customer, simply allowing them to update content displayed within the application by uploading new content into pre-defined folders via FTP, without the need to even login to the NTB user interface.
HTML pages were used as the basis of the touch interface and hyperlinks on each page drove javascripts when touched. The scrips forced the playlists in three different zones to respond accordingly, jumping to specific content.
The three zones included a folder play of images and two ad hoc text items, one for the title and one for the words. Individual ad hoc users logging onto the NTB had the ability to upload content into their own folder and to edit the accompanying words in both English and Portuguese. There was a layout for each language and a button to touch to switch between them.
